The autograph of The Beatles can be sold for $800 thousand

15 January 2007

The text of The Beatles song “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” written by the hand will be sold from an auction. The auction will take place on the next Monday. The representatives of the Cooper Owen auction house are expecting to sell the Georges Harrison’s autograph for the sum varying from $500 thousand up to $800.

The autograph is a draft with the original of the text of the song and also with the lines which have not been included into the final variant and Harrison’s postscript below the text: «the Leader of the group said, that he would not play more». Experts say that this phrase characterizes conflicts between the members of the group - John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The song was enlisted into the «White album» of The Beatles in 1968.

The autographs of The Beatles are still popular among the collectors. Last month the empty envelope of their record with brief signatures of musicians has been sold for $115 thousand
