Jolie’s mother has died
29 January 2007 A former actress Marcheline Bertrand, Angelina Jolie’s mother, has died in medical center Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles in the age of 56 years.
The reason of death there was a cancer with which Bertrand struggled for more than seven years.
Angelina Jolie and her elder brother James Heven and Jolie’s civil husband Brad Pitt have arrived to hospital and were near Bertrand during the moment of death.
Jolie is literally shocked by the fact that her mum has been struggling with illness for all the time just to have a chance to see her small grand daughter.
Marcheline Bertrand was under the round-the-clock supervision in oncological clinic of Beverli-Hillz in Los Angeles. After doctors have declared to her, that the illness has passed into the last stage and there were particularly no chances for recovering, only Bertrand’s unique desire helped her to see the grand daughter before the death.
Marcheline Bertrand was born in 1950 in Chicago. However she came from the French province Quebec in Canada. In 1971 she, being a young actress and model, has married actor John Voight. A pair had two children - Angelina and her brother-director James Heven. Five years later after the wedding they have officially divorced.
Angelina Jolie has always said that she became an actress exactly due to her mothers. Jolie did not communicate with her father and always skeptically responds about his contribution to her career.
